5 Best Car Waxes – an Unbiased Glimpse

5 Best Car Waxes – an Unbiased Glimpse

We all know the PURPOSE of car wax, but many people become confused when determining the BEST car wax.  Which is best?  Which works the longest?  And which one is less likely to be complicated to rub on and off?  The process of waxing your car is time consuming, especially if you’ve ever used those waxes that rub off hard after they dry in the sun.

And then there are different types of car wax. Paste auto wax, liquid auto wax or spray auto wax.  Too many decisions to make!  Is there any difference in durability?  Does buying a more expensive auto wax make it better than a cheap one that you can buy at any random department store?

Well, these are all tough questions but the most important traits you need to look for in high quality automobile wax are these:

  • Ease of application:  Determine how easy the car wax is to apply and wipe off. Some are thick and take forever to rub on and off, making the work of detailing your car painstaking.
  • Auto Wax Quality: Some cheap car wax may work just fine, but they don’t last long and your car may go right back to what it looked like before you did all that work within a couple of weeks. What good is that?  Invest in something a little better and save having to repeat the car waxing process.
  • Formula:  Make sure the car wax you choose uses high quality ingredients, such as Carnauba wax #14 yellow. Coming from a Brazilian palm tree, this is known to work best.
  • Performance:  How long the auto wax will hold up is very important.

Now, here’s a glimpse of the Top 5 Auto Wax products:

#1 – Fukken Wax: Used by the pros, this auto wax is an affordable version that is really easy to apply from its aerosol can. It uses high quality #14 Carnauba wax for the ultimate shine that lasts a really long time. Many auto dealerships use Fukken Wax and it’s also very popular in the European market. Those Europeans know cars, so this stuff is top notch. Plus it’s affordable at only $14.95 for a can or even less for a wholesale box. And users give Fukken Wax auto wax 5 stars! It even comes with a guarantee, so what more could you ask for?

#2 – 5 Star Shine: It claims to use NASA Technology and great protection from UV rays. That’s great!  It also has a guarantee and uses a unique formula that is undisclosed.  It seems to do everything it says it will, however the major drawback is the price. You have to buy a whole kit, which starts at $69.95.  That’s a little pricey but if you want to spend a lot, go for it!

#3 – Turtle Wax:  Nearly everyone has heard of Turtle Wax because it’s widely available at department stores. They have a lot of different kinds to choose from and it’s not terribly expensive, either.  It also uses Carnauba Wax, which is good. However, both the liquid and paste versions of Turtle wax can be a bit more of a pain than other kinds of auto waxes to wipe on and off, unlike car waxes that use aerosol spray-on technology.  If it were up to me, I’d go the easy route for a long-lasting shine that doesn’t require a whole afternoon of waxing labor.

#4 – Armor All Ultra Shine:  People have been using Armor All to clean tires for awhile, but they also have a wax that is readily available in many retail outlets.  The biggest pro is that it’s cheap, but the biggest con is, well, that it’s cheap.  It doesn’t last as long as some of the better rated waxes out there so you may have to redo all of that work you spend waxing your car again within a month or so.  Maybe less. The spray bottle is cool, though.

#5 – Juicy Car Butter Wax:  We like a lot about this wax.  It’s very easy to apply, hence the name “butter”.  Indeed, it goes on and off smoothly. Car butter uses high quality ingredients like natural Carnauba and a blend of polymers and resins.  It doesn’t stain plastic or rubber so if you make a mistake and rub it on the bumper or grill, no biggie.  Users say it lasts a long time, too, so that’s a bonus.  The shocking price tag of $64.95 may be out of the league for those who just want to wax their car, so it may be just as well to purchase a top car wax without having to break the bank.

Spring Fever Car Wax Tips

Spring Fever Car Wax Tips

Spring is finally here, and if you’re like many people who live in the north, the harsh salt and snow have taken their toll on your car.  Even in the South, the extra traffic caused by all of those snowbirds can leave a “sooty” film all over your ride, making it appear dull and lifeless.

Fükkenwax.com knows how much you love your car and that’s why we offer not just the best car wax and auto detailing products around, we take the time to tell you how to maximize the life of your vehicle by keeping a professional showroom finish using high quality products.

But many of us don’t have the time to dedicate to those waxes that require a lot of effort to take on and rub off.  The difference between Fukken Wax auto wax and others is the waterless formula that allows users to simply spray it on, rub it to a hazy appearance and then buff it out, even if there is dirt on it.  This is a great way to make your car have that spotless shine and showroom finish.  Plus it comes in an easy aerosol container for easy touch-ups.

So, here’s how to remove salt residue and rust after a harsh winter:

1 – First if you’re using a standard garden hose (or you can go to one of those do-it-yourself car washes), set it to the highest pressure it will withstand. Blast off salt or caked-on residue.  Then apply 1 can of Fukken Wax waterless car wax.

2 – Don’t overlook the wheel wells. There may be caked on mud and salt from the snow. After pressure washing, apply 1 can of Fukken Chrome Wheel Wax for a nice, grime-free and simply awesome shine to your wheel wells.

3 – Get the nooks and crannies. The headlights, crevices, under the wheels, even the inside of the door jamb can collect salt and residue from snow and sticky mud.  Grab a Fukken Wax auto terry cloth or auto microfiber cloth and get those crevices, too by using Fukken Wax car wax.

Now for Southern states, here’s how to remove soot and sun damage from cars:

1 – As you drive, especially in states that have high-traffic, the dirt and grime can accumulate on your car and make it look really dull.  So if you want to remove pollution and soot from the car, do not use something abrasive or you will scratch your paint. First of all, use a high pressure hose and wash the car well.

2 – Get a clay bar. It’s an auto detailing tool that scrubs without scratching. Then apply Fukken Wax euro-style car wax with one of our high quality Fukken Wax microfiber clothes and work the magic.

3 – To remove sun damage, bird droppings or tar, you will definitely to buff it out. You can invest in a good auto detailing buffer at any auto accessories store.  However, I would recommend NOT buying the cheapest but you don’t have to buy the most expensive, either. Go with a middle-of-the road, affordable, yet high quality buffer and you will notice a HUGE difference in conjunction with the Fukken Wax car wax.

All types of weather can cause car oxidation, decomposition and deterioration.  The best way to avoid these types of weather hassles to your car (besides moving away) is to also keep your car clean with the high quality car wax products at Fukken Wax, as well as keeping it in a garage if you can.

3 Car Cleaning Myths De-Bunked

3 Car Cleaning Myths De-Bunked

At Fükkenwax.com, our goal is to make the very most out of your automobile and that can be done simply by keeping it clean and detailed frequently with some of our exceptionally awesome Fukken Wax auto detailing products.

Over the past few blogs, we've spent a lot of time explaining how to detail your vehicle like pro. Now here are some common misconceptions that the average Joe has when it comes to the subject. We're not passing any judgment here; we're just trying to prevent well-meaning people from inadvertently damaging the finish of their cars or trucks! So, please read on.

Myth #1: Dish detergent is fine to use for washing your car.

Ever heard the expression dishpan hands? Well, using dish detergent on your car does the same thing to the surface. The degreasing agents in the soap will break down the polymers of the clearcloat eventually, ruining the finish!

Solution: Don't do it! Go to the auto parts store and choose from a big selection of products specially designed to clean your car...not your dishes.

Myth #2: Cloth diapers, t-shirts or flannel shirts are great for cleaning

Falso! While soft cotton is ok for applying wax once your car has already been thoroughly cleaned, they are NOT good for washing. Those soft materials end up pushing small abrasive debris all over the finish of your car, and you just end up with fine scratches everywhere.

Solution: Use microfiber cleaning cloths or premium terry cloth towels for cleaning. The higher pile of these fabrics does a much better job picking up debris and removing it from the surface of your vehicle instead of spreading it around like a fine paper.

Myth #3: Clay bars are best left to the pros

Not so. You can do it. Just follow the instructions, always use an appropriate clay lubricant with your clay bar, and you'll be fine. It's the best way to remove bonded impurities like brake dust, tree sap, industrial fall-out and more from your vehicle's finish. Be sure to follow up with a good wax job using Fükken Wax!

Solution: Get to the store and choose the clay bar that's right for you. They come in different sizes and grades. Choose a medium grade for infrequent use. Or, if you take regular good care of your vehicle, choose a fine grade clay bar!

6 Engine Bay Detailing Tips You Never Knew

6 Engine Bay Detailing Tips You Never Knew

If the inside and outside of your auto look great, don’t overlook the most important spot on your car. Under the hood!  At Fükkenwax.com, we believe in making your whole car look good, not just the exterior and interior.  The parts that make your vehicle run will work a whole lot better if you keep them clean. Trust us!

In fact, under the hood of your car too often gets neglected when it comes to auto detailing. But, the engine deserves a good sprucing up, too. So here are some tips for looking good under the hood.

Engine Bay

1. Detail under the hood before you wash the vehicle

Cleaning the engine tends to be a dirty job, so do it first. That way any dirt or grease that gets on the vehicle will come off when you wash it!

2. Cover up the fenders and bumper with wet towels

You're going to be using some strong degreasers and cleaning solutions on your engine components, and these can spot or damage other surfaces. The towels will keep those surfaces safe from the cleaners...as well as your belt buckle when you lean in to get to work!

3. Safety first — wear goggles, gloves and an apron!

As noted already, engine cleaners are strong chemicals, so you're going to want to take some simple precautions. Eye goggles and apron and rubber gloves are always a good idea!

4. Don't get electronic components wet

The results can be shocking! Most of today’s cars have computerized components housed in the upper right or left corners of the engine compartment. Don't spray these with water! Instead, use a damp rag to carefully wipe them down.

5. Be careful not to scratch the outside of the vehicle as you work

Be mindful of things like zippers and buttons on your clothes whenever you work on cars, especially when leaning into the engine compartment. Yeah, you know your favorite Texas Hot Rod dinner-plate sized belt buckle? You probably should not wear that!

6. Keep plenty of microfiber cloths on hand

Microfiber cloths are great for grabbing up dust and grime, and you can grab some right here at www.fukkenwax.com!

How to Use Detailing Clay Properly

How to Use Detailing Clay Properly

Last time you joined us, Fükkenwax.com told you about detailing clay, a great concept in keeping your car clean and prolonging the life of your auto exterior.

If you're serious about taking care of your car inside and out, and for that we salute you! When it comes to keeping your finish shiny, sleek and new, detailing clay is the way to go. It's the best method for removing damaging impurities such as brake dust, gravel, tree sap, bug guts, road debris and industrial fallout from your vehicle's finish. So, let's talk about how to use the stuff properly to make your car or truck shine, shine, shine!

Follow these steps to use detailing clay the right way:

1. Wash and dry your vehicle, and park it in the shade!

2. Work on small sections of your car at a time

Spray clay lubricant on a small, maybe 2 foot section of your car. Then gently glide the clay bar over the wet area. The clay will feel sticky against the surface at first as it is grabbing those impurities out of your paint. When it glides easily over the surface, you know your paint is clean.

3. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the area
The idea is to get that surface of your vehicle to feel as smooth as glass. So, once the clay bar is gliding easily over the area, wipe that spot down with a clean microfiber cloth. If any clay residue is left, hit it with a little clay lubricant spray and wipe again.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as necessary over the entire surface of your vehicle

Be sure to keep using the clay lubricant, and mold and remold the clay bar so that you are using its cleanest possible surface. And, go ahead and use it on your windows and chrome, too!

5. Store your clay bar safely for the next use
Depending on its size your detailing clay bar should last for a couple of uses if cared for properly. Always moisten the clay bar with a little clay lubricant and store in its plastic case or an airtight plastic bag. Don't let leave it in a hot car, and don't let it freeze!

6. Finish up with Fükken Wax or a quality sealant

Now that you've removed those impurities from your car's surface, you need to seal up all those tiny pits and scratches to prevent corrosion. So, be sure to follow every detailing clay job with a thorough waxing. And, get ready to see your reflection again!
